A large tin glazed terracotta Lebrillo de Triana.

Of gently flared circular shape and recognisable through distinctive polychrome decoration - painted with central bull motif, flowers and foliage.

Historically the lebrillos would have been used to separate the entrails of slaughtered animals and in food preparation. Any damages or cracks to the bowls were repaired by the 'lañador', who made them safe with iron staples.

One chip on the border and a crack that runs from the centre to the side, repaired with iron staples.

Seville, Spain - c.1800-50

H: 22 cm / D: 48cm
