A diminutive, richly coloured and honest vernacular woven armchair of pegged construction.
This particular example in Elm boasts an interesting single hewn arm & spindled back / arms. The slender front stretcher has been fabulously worn and the sugan style woven seat has remained largely intact bar some minor frays.
A really lovely, simple and pleasing piece of primitive Eastern European furniture.
Late 19th Century - Southern Hungary.
