A painted pine folk-art hanging plate / cup rack.
A scarce mid-19th century example from that still retains it's original paint - boasting a set of naively painted flowers in-between the pegs.
This particular piece would have been found in the 'clean-room' of Hungarian peasant houses, showing the best fabrics and furniture in a display of wealth to all visitors.
Two of the pegs on this rack have been replaced with modern replicas however it still retains all of its original charm.
c.1850, Austro-Hungarian Empire.
