A large tin glazed terracotta Lebrillo de Triana.

Of gently flared circular shape and recognisable through its distinctive polychrome decoration - painted with central bull motif, flowers and foliage.

Complete with wall hanger and a traditional staple repair.

Historically the lebrillos would have been used to separate the entrails of slaughtered animals and in food preparation. Any damages or cracks to the bowls were repaired by the 'lañador', who made them safe with iron staples.

In good condition, this large Andalusian bowl dates to the first half of the 19th century and started life in the Triana district of Seville.

One chip on the rim.

Seville, Spain - c.1800-50

H: 22 cm / D: 48cm
